Babolat Pure Aero VS 2020 Racket Review

We gave the Babolat Pure Aero a score of 8.5 out of 10 for groundstrokes, and we decided it was only right the VS got the same score.

The VS is a little bit heavier, but because of the HL balance it’s easy to get moving quickly through the air, and this means you can get some serious racket head speed.

The result is plenty of power and spin, but it comes in a slightly more controlled way than with the Pure Aero.

I find that with the Pure Aero, I almost get too much spin, and it’s a battle to flatten the ball out, but that wasn’t the case with this Pure Aero VS.

If you’re someone who loves to swing through the ball with huge racket head speed, but naturally produces plenty of power and spin, then the Aero VS is a much better option.

For people seeking the extra power, it’s got a bit more control than the regular Pure Aero, but it still stays true to the Aero range by offering good pop and plenty of spin.

This combination gives you the ability to hit a really heavy ball that kicks up and pushes your opponent back in the court.

The other thing we loved about the playtest was how easy it was to get good depth.

We soon lasered in on our length and this helped us to play on the front foot (in the style of Nadal).

Overall we couldn’t find fault with the Babolat Pure Aero VS from the back of the court and we gave it a great score of 8.5 out of 10.

This was an area where we preferred the VS over the regular Aero. That little bit of extra weight and control worked out nicely, and made the racket feel more solid on volleys.

The Pure Aero is one of those rackets where you do all the hard work from the back of the court and come to the net to put the easy volley away, but the VS has a bit more than that.

I didn’t mind hitting the more difficult volleys with this racket and found I was able to dig myself out of some difficult positions.

We did manage to get some doubles in with the Pure Aero VS 2020 and we all felt very comfortable with it.

The balance of manevuerability and control meant it was quick to get into position, but didn’t get pushed around.

When I play with the regular Pure Aero, this is something I struggle with, so it was a nice surprise how much I enjoyed the VS at the net.

A strong performance from the Babolat Pure Aero VS 2020 earned it a score of 7.5 out of 10 for the volleys.

If you’re someone whose serve needs a little extra something, then the regular Pure Aero is a wonderful racket.

It creates a whirlwind of power and spin that makes you feel like you’re hitting bombs.

Comparatively, the VS is much more gentle, it’s control shines through on the serve, and you don’t have quite the same venom as you do with the regular Aero.

For those people who struggle for power on serve this is a negative, but for the players with hefty first serves, it’s a big positive.

The VS puts you in control of power creation on the serves, instead focussing on giving you control and spin.

This allows you to unleash your serve to the fullest, the only caveat is it doesn’t offer much for free.

For most people, this makes the VS a little more difficult to use than its counterpart, lending it to more advanced players.

Personally, I enjoyed how the Babolat Pure Aero VS 2020 came together on the serve, but if I had to choose, I’d go with the regular Aero for the serves.

So, a good performance on the serve, which earned this stick an 8 out of 10, just behind its Pure Aero counterpart.

This was another area where I enjoyed playing with the Babolat Pure Aero VS 2020.

The extra little bit of control gives you the ability to guide the ball back into court and really make the most of this racket’s maneuverability.

Returning serve is so difficult when you have a racket that doesn’t swing easily, but as ever with the Pure Aero range, you have all the maneuverability you could want with this stick.

Sometimes maneuverability comes with a lack of stability, but again, that’s not the case with the Aero VS as you get a good solid contact on the ball with plenty of spin and control.

When you do see that weaker second serve and have the opportunity to unleash, then you’ve also got everything you need.

It’s not a racket that offers crazy amounts of free power, but if you’ve got strong strokes, then you will hit that heavy ball everyone craves.

We rounded out a good overall playtest for the Babolat Pure Aero VS 2020 with a strong 8 out of 10 on the returns.

We liked what we found with the Pure Aero VS and thoroughly enjoyed the playtest.

We all found that the extra control of the VS suited our games more than the regular Pure Aero, but overall, they were equally good rackets.

The key difference between the two sticks is how you like to generate power and spin.

If you really love to swing big, and have got strong strokes which you rely on for your power, then you’re probably going to lean towards the VS just as we did.

However, the Aero range is typically one that people look to for an injection of power and spin, and if this is the case with you, then you’re probably better suited to the regular Pure Aero.

That’s not to say this racket didn’t offer plenty of pop, it just does it in a slightly different way to some of the other rackets in this range.

We loved the balance we had from this racket from the back of the court, and it worked nicely on volleys and returns too.

The one area where we struggled a little bit more was on the serve, where we didn’t get anywhere near the free power we did with the regular Pure Aero, but that just meant we focussed more on control and hit more first serves in the court.

So, overall a great performance, and the Babolat Pure Aero VS was deserving of its 8 out of 10.
