Wilson Pro Overgrip Review
So, you’ve arrived at a review of the Wilson Pro Over Grip, which can only mean one of two things.
Either you’re new to tennis and looking for some advice on over grips, or you’re a seasoned player checking to make sure that we at TheTennisBros are sane.
If you’re the latter, rest assured, we know that the Wilson Pro Over Grip is the only grip out there, and if you’re the former, congratulations, you just found your new overgrip!
Our bro Tom is probably cooking up some fandangled article on why Tourna are the best grip right now, but fortunately, majority rules.
Lawrence and I know what everyone else know to be true: you cannot beat the Wilson Pro Over Grip.
Softness
11out of 10
Think of the softest thing you can think of.
If you’ve never tried the Wilson Pro Over Grip, it’s probably a cherished childhood blanket, a fluffy puppy, or a brand-new sweater.
But those who know, know that the softest thing out there is, in fact, the Wilson Pro Over Grip.
Do I have evidence to support these bold claims?
Well, of course I do!
You’d expect someone that spends a lot of time wielding a tennis racket to have some pretty chewed up hands.
Indeed, if you use Tourna grips you can probably use your hands as sandpaper by now, but fear not, Wilson has the perfect antidote with the Wilson Pro Over Grip.
Using Wilson’s hand elixir of life, I have maintained pristine hands throughout my career, and to prove it, here is a picture of my left hand!
“That’s just a dirty stunt I hear you saying.
You’re probably right-handed with a single-handed backhand!”
Well, the answer is I’m a proud leftie, but just in case you don’t believe me, here’s a picture of my right hand.
So, enough with my little quest to be Wilson’s next hand model, you get the point.
The Wilson Pro Over Grip is soft – very soft.
Absorbency
9out of 10
So, it didn’t get a 10 out of 10, but nothing’s perfect.
The Wilson Pro is very good at absorbing moisture for a period of time.
It won’t last forever though, and if you’re playing very regularly it’s worth putting on a new one every once in a while.
This is one of the most important qualities in a grip, and one that can cost you a lot of money if you get it wrong.
I’ve seen countless cases of people breaking rackets because they have flown out of their hand on serve.
Where have I seen this?
Well, I was once young and naive and wasn’t using the Wilson Pro Over Grip.
Next thing you know, moisture has built up on your palm and you’re rackets halfway down the court.
A move to the Wilson Pro Over Grip soon sorted this out and I was able to put my racket breaking days behind me.
I haven’t looked back since, and I can honestly say it is a decision that has served me well.
If you’ve got crazy sweaty palms then it might be worth looking at something with extreme absorbance, but you’ve got to be sweating buckets (like Tom) for the Wilson not to do the job.
Thinness
10out of 10
When you’re putting something over something you don’t want it to take away the feel.
(Editor’s Note: Will, are you reviewing grips or Durex products?)
You want to be able to feel every detail of what’s happening, and besides, you’ve bought the racket in a certain grip size for a reason, so you don’t want to be putting something super thick over it and changing the feel.
The Wilson Pro Over Grip is super thin and super stretchy so you can spread it as thin as you like.
If you like to feel as connected as possible to your racket, then this makes the Wilson Pro Over Grip an excellent option.
You don’t hit perfect drop shots if you’re racket isn’t set up perfectly and the Wilson Pro Over Grip was born to help you hit perfect everything (just ask Fed).
Fed Plays with It
10out of 10
Federer loves beautiful things, and boy is the Wilson Pro Over Grip beautiful.
If you’re spending the best part of 200 bucks on a tennis racket don’t ruin it with an ugly grip. Do as Fed does and have your racket looking pristine.
If I was a salesman I think this would be my number one, go to pitch – “Fed uses it.”
It just says so much about the product.
You can achieve perfection with it, you can look great with it, you’ll be humble and loved with it – all things that I have found to be true in my own personal use of the Wilson Pro Over Grip (Editor’s Note: LOL)
Overall
10out of 10
To paraphrase When Harry Met Sally, when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with something, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible, and if you’ve never had this feeling, then you’ve not tried the Wilson Pro Over Grip yet.
It’s got everything a grip should have and more, and it must be the best product in tennis in my opinion.
Such a simple thing, but nobody else seems to get close to Wilson on this one. (Editor’s Note: True.)
Now all that’s left is for you to do is to do as Fed, myself and Jerry Maguire have done, and say, “you complete me” to the Wilson Pro Over Grip.
This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, my friends!
The Wilson Pro Overgrip might be the best out there, but have you got the right racket and strings?

Final Thoughts
We may have been a little bit sensationalist in this article. There are thinner grips, and there are more absorbent ones. However, the blend of performance the Wilson Pro Overgrip offers is extremely hard to beat.

Tourna Mega Tac Grip Review
Those people that love a tacky grip should be excited just by the name of the Tourna Mega Tac! Of course, the name doesn’t always live up to the reality, as I recently found with the Volkl V-Tac Overgrip, but Tourna is a brand that normally delivers! The Tourna Original…
