Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code Review

We found the Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code offered a little more easy power than many co-polys that we’ve tried before.

As poly strings go, these ones, particularly the blue string, are pretty lively.

That being said, Razor Code is still a poly at heart, and those players that need lots of easy power aren’t going to enjoy this string.

This would most likely rule this string out as an option for a beginner player.

However, for experienced intermediate players and advanced players, this string offers a nice blend of power and control that allows you to generate power from difficult positions but still feel like you’ve got that control when you need it.

As someone who craves control and doesn’t have much need for easy power, I wouldn’t want the Razor Code blue to be any more powerful than it is, and I did prefer the carbon colored version for this reason.

Overall, we gave the Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code a 6.5 out of 10 for power.

For a co-poly string, this is a pretty high score and given the high levels of control it gives you there is a fair bit of pop.

When it comes to strings, control is my number one priority. I hate having a string that pings on me and has too much of a lively feel.

If you’re like me then you were probably a bit put off by the last paragraph where I said this string could even be a little bit too powerful.

You don’t need to worry though, because the Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code still manages to maintain high levels of control.

The thing I liked the most about Razor Code was that on the shots where I wanted more control, generally my forehand and volleys, I had the control I needed but on the shots where I find a little bit of pop useful like my backhand and serve, I got the pop.

This helped me control my depth nicely and attack with precision, power, and spin.

Throughout the week, I played consistently good tennis and couldn’t really find any negatives to talk about.

Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code performed very well when it came to control, we gave it an 8 out of 10.

Like comfort, feel is one of those areas where polys can sometimes sacrifice in order to offer more spin and control, but I didn’t feel that was the case with the ATP Razor Code.

This isn’t a stiff poly, and this helps you get a little better feel for the ball.

I’m used to a little bit more of a deadened feel from my RPM Blast, so it did take a little bit of getting used to, but eventually, I got zoned in with Razor Code and began to feel very comfortable.

There are strings out there that offer better feel, but very few of them do so whilst still offering Razor Code’s levels of control.

It got a 7 out of 10 for feel.

If control is the number one thing I look for in a string then spin is number two.

Poly strings have really changed the things we’re able to do on the tennis court, and a lot of that is to do with the spin potential they offer.

The Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code is right up there when it comes to spin potential, and you certainly won’t be disappointed.

It’s not quite up there with something like Babolat RPM Blast Rough, but it’s not a million miles off.

Of course, the amount of spin you generate is largely down to your technique, but the string will certainly have an effect.

Razor Code is one of those strings that will help you maximize your ability to hit with topspin and attack with heavy shots.

This was another strong performance from the Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code, and we gave it an 8.5 out of 10 for spin.

This is one area where the poly stings are often found to be lacking.

Let’s be honest, they tend to put comfort a distant second behind performance.

However, there are some polys that offer you a little easier time on the joints than others, and Tecnifibre Razor Code is one of those.

Comfort is just another area where I settled in very quickly with Razor Code and felt happy throughout the playtest.

There really aren’t any weak areas with this string and I can see why it would be popular with so many people.

Most polys get a lower score than 7 out of 10 for comfort, but that’s what we gave ATP Razor Code.

If you’re someone who likes your string to last you a while, then Razor Code has that box ticked too.

We found this string to have excellent durability and it lasted a long time.

Like all strings, it loses tension over time, but there wasn’t a big drop off in performance.

As we played more and more, the string did lose a bit of its liveliness which actually suited me better, but I don’t think it is anything anyone would worry about.

I like to have to restring my rackets as infrequently as possible, so I was pretty impressed with this aspect of the Tecnifibre Razor Code.

We gave the Razor Code an 8 out of 10 for durability.

This is a really good string! If the main things you look from your string are control, spin, and durability then it is well worth taking a look at Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code.

It does very well in these areas, but it also doesn’t have any real weaknesses.

It is a poly string, so it’s not going to offer a massive amount in the way of power and this means it’s not ideal for beginners, but for everyone else, there’s plenty this string can do for you.

We all found that Razor Code suited us nicely and we all played very well with it.

Overall, Razor Code got an 8.5 out of 10, a very good score. It’s got everything you could want from a poly.
