Tecnifibre T-Flash 270 CES Racket Review

Tecnifibre rackets are renowned for their crisp feel and are ideal for clean hitting players that want to maximise their control, stability and spin.

Tour players such as Danil Medvedev, John Milman and Iga Swiatek take pride in their Tecnifibre rackets, so it is easy to see why the brand is becoming more and more popular amongst recreational players!

Consistency is king when it comes to Tecnifibre rackets. Having a solid feeling racket that is predictable on contact and helps you create repeatable patterns of play is a major asset on the court.

Tecnifibre has integrated technology that helps with consistency as well as stability and control in their T-Flash line of rackets.

Compared to the Power Stab rackets that came before them, the T-Flash line promises to add a bit more swing weight, stability and power behind the ball thanks to the new CES (Cubic Edge Shaft) technology.

This creates more surface area around the frame of the racket, making for a thicker beam and a more forgiving frame. The result is more power and comfort in this new range of rackets, whilst naturally sacrificing a little maneuverability in the process.

However, this is not much of an issue in the 270g version we have here, as although it certainly feels a little heftier than the previous model, it is not unwieldy at all.

The added stability and consistent contact you can get from the large sweet spot more than makes up for any loss of swing speed.

The additional power and comfort actually makes swinging the racket easier, as you feel like the racket is doing more of the heavy lifting for you.

The T-Flash comes with the progressive string pattern, which packs the strings more tightly together in the middle of the string bed and further apart towards the edges of the frame.

The idea here is that you get more string contact with the ball around the sweet spot, enhancing the feel and control on central hits and reducing noise on off-centre hits.

This again emphasises the lengths the Tecnifibre has gone to to make this a great feeling racket, even at the lower end of the weight range.

Another element they have improved is the grip. They have added silicone to the handle through their HD Fuse system to add even more shock absorption to the racket, making it as comfortable as possible.

The T-Fight 270 CES comes with a 69 stiffness rating, making it one of the less pliant rackets in this light weight category.

This increases energy transfer and adds power and a lot of stability to the racket, giving you a consistent feel no matter what shot you are hitting.

The main trade off that this usually brings however is a lack of feel and some potential harshness from the stiff layup. However, the T-Flash feels very well damped thanks to all the sophisticated technology Tecnifibre have loaded it up with.

This racket is ideal for a junior or a beginner player that is looking for a stable racket that is easy to swing and has a great deal of control and a consistent feel.

It is also easy to generate a lot of spin thanks to the high launch angle that the 16×19 string pattern offers.

The racket is not lacking pop either, especially in this 270g form. It is therefore a great all rounder and definitely suits the type of player it is aimed at.

Off the ground the Tecnifibre T-Flash feels solid and well sorted for such a lightweight racket. As mentioned previously, it is the ideal choice for a junior player who wants an easy to swing racket with a good bit of pop and easy access to spin.

The T-Flash is slightly more weighty in the hand than the previous version, making it a bit more powerful and a little more stable.

This helps when counterpunching and holding the baseline when the intensity level increases.

If you are a junior player or even a beginner looking for a racket that you won’t grow out of very quickly, this is a great option to consider. In terms of the way the racket performs, it is a stable feeling all rounder.

There isn’t one major thing that this racket does that stands out, but it just does a lot of jobs very capably.

You can rely on the consistent feel and control the ball easily with the progressive string bed, the tighter pattern in the middle of the frame helps the ball come out of the racket cleanly regardless of where your strike point is.

The T-Flash is also very easy to whip up the back of the ball, making passing shots on the run and transition play as you approach the net very accessible, even to players whose technique is a work in progress.

Its large sweet spot and well damped set-up also makes it quite forgiving, despite its relatively high stiffness rating for this class of racket. This makes it a great base for an improving player to build up their skills and learn how to dominate from all areas of the court.

The one thing that you may need to take into account is the stiffness, particularly as a junior or someone quite new to the game.

If the muscles in your arm and wrist are not conditioned to hitting with a stiffer racket, you may feel a slight strain or tenderness at the end of a long hitting session with this racket.

Whilst it is still quite well damped, making it comfortable on the whole, if you are used to a more flexible stick this may be a bit on the highly strung side for you.

Volleys

Up at the net the Tecnifibre T-Flash feels crisp and stable, despite it being a lightweight racket.

The stiffness does detract slightly from the feel, as it does take a little time to dial in and get used to hitting touch shots.

However, once you find your range it is easy to hit low volleys aggressively and knife the ball towards the back of the court.

What you may lack in overall feel with this racket can be more than made up with in brute force!

It is a stiff and powerful racket that you can attack the ball with and smother the net, making you a formidable force in the forecourt. It is also very easy to get into position and react quickly to fast incoming shots.

Serve

Despite its relatively high stiffness rating, the Tecnifibre T-Flash is a really comfortable racket to serve with.

It inspires confidence and urges you to hit more aggressive first and second serves, as the combination of power from the thick beam and control from the tight string bed lets you hit big but stay in control.

The low weight and open string pattern make it easy to add plenty of spin to your serve, so you can carve out slice serves and push your opponent into the tramlines at will.

This also makes the T-Flash 270 ideal for players looking to learn kick serves for the first time, as you can definitely put in the hours on court and not get too fatigued by the racket’s overall weight. It feels solid for such a light racket and is a good all rounder on the serve.

Return

The addition of more shock absorbing materials does make quite a difference when returning serve with the T-Flash.

It is a light racket as we know, so it is easy to swing and you can really add a lot of pace if you need to crush a second serve return. The even balance and added beef in the frame construction definitely helps with this.

However, you may expect a 270g racket to be pushed around a bit when returning bigger serves. In the case of the T-Flash, it handles pace well and feels crisp on contact, even when just blocking the ball back deep.

The stiffness definitely helps with this feeling and you can tell the racket has been put through its paces in development.

It is a racket that you can feel comfortable returning serve from anywhere in the court. Whether you are looking to step in and crush a big forehand return, or step back and work your way into the point, the Tecnifibre T-Flash 270 CES will let you play the game your way.

Conclusion

8out of 10

Overall, the 270 CES version of the T-Flash from Tecnifibre is a great utility racket for junior and beginner level players. It is an obvious choice if you want a racket that you can rely on to give consistent feedback, add a bit of pop to your shots and add consistency to your game.

The new technology makes it a lot better damped than previous versions and it is a reasonably comfortable racket despite its high stiffness rating.

It is a great all round racket that ticks a lot of boxes and definitely one you should try if you’re looking for a lightweight racket that will still remain solid on contact!
