About Dunlop
Dunlop’s journey into tennis is an interesting one. Back in 1888, John Boyd Dunlop patented the pneumatic tire for bicycles, and who would have thought that would lead them into tennis? As it happens, the materials were very similar, and in 1923, Dunlop entered the tennis ball market.
In 1932 they started making rackets, and over the next 50 years, they produced some of the most famous models in the world. Legends such as Rod Laver, Virginia Wade, and John McEnroe all won numerous titles with these rackets, making them icons of the time.
Dunlop’s profile isn’t quite as large in the tennis world today, but it still makes some excellent rackets for all levels of players.
